Dialogues via the Radio
The project hosted 15 radio programs across the nation. 12 out of it were sponsored by the project and the 3 were co-funded by the organizers. 6 out of the 12 funded programs were aired on a National radio and the other 6 were spread across the project states as community radio programs.
The National Radio Program
The project held an interactive radio program with the Radio Nigeria Kaduna. We keyed into a popular Hausa program called “Jakar magori” a program that is listened to all produced and aired 10 times which are all repeated once, making it a total of 20. We used each slot to solicit for response and feedback that will be answered in the subsequent slots. We also bought into a cool FM program in Abuja with a request to connect us to other cool FMs across the Nation. Therefore the National programs were held in Kaduna and Abuja.
Each town hall meeting we held was accompanied by at by a local radio dialogue in the state the PPD is held. The radio dialogues are all phone-in programs that serve as an invitation to the PPD. The radio programs were targeted to reach communities that may not make it to the Town Hall meetings and also to initiate discussions. The project held the local program in Jordan FM Abuja; Express Radio, Kano where we broadcasted twice; Vision FM Sokoto; Punch News Papers Lagos, and Sweet FM Abeokuta. In Kwara state we used Sobi FM, Ilorin; in Bauchi, we used Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) and in Taraba, the PPD is aimed via Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS). We answered questions of the people that could not make it to the PPD and created a dialogue that can be continued or clarified at the venue of the PPDs.
